| 7/12-17/2012 Singapore: Numerous parks were visited including the Botanical Gardens. Some of our favorite birds are sunbirds (the Asian answer to hummers of the Americas). Below is a male Olive-backed Sunbird and a juv. male as well as a juv. Crimson Sunbird. (more of these on "next page" below). Also, a White-breasted Waterhen family was seen feeding along the lake. There was a Wandering Whistling-Duck and a Lesser Whistling Duck with a brood of youngsters. Also shown, a Yellow-vented Bulbul, a Common Iora, a Common Flameback pair, and a Collared Kingfisher . |

| 7/12-17/2012 Singapore: Numerous parks were visited including Pulau Ubin Island, the Sungei Bulah Nature Park, and the Chinese and Japanese Gardens. Shown: Oriental Pied Hornbill (ad,juv), Milkly Stork (ad,juv, and catching fish), Olive-backed Sunbird (f), Oriental Magpie Robin (m), Little Egret (fishing), Grey Heron , Purple Heron (smart bird was escaping the heat by sitting under a leaf!), Stork-billed Kingfisher , Yellow-vented Bulbul with berry, White-bellied Sea-Eagle (various years), and a Brown-throated Sunbird pair. Then: Sunda Pygmy Woodpecker (or now Sunda Woodpecker ) , a Pied Triller with food, and a shot of a wild pig (Island) which had knocked over a bike and devoured someone's lunch! Also: a Scaly-breasted Munia and a Blue-throated Bee-eater . |
