7/4/2012 Chongming Island, China:  A beautiful morning was spent trying to capture marshland birds.  
Yellow Bittern individuals were criss-crossing the sky and were sometimes captured landing in the
reeds.  Oriental Reed Warbler families were flitting about and a Purple Heron flyby was a treat. There was
a Eurasian Tree Sparrow nest nearby - what a surprise!
7/4/2012 Chongming Island, China:  A beautiful morning was spent trying to capture marshland birds.  A
Eurasian Cuckoo family was chasing each other about marshes.  Also shown: a Reed Parrotbill, a Crested
Myna with breakfast, a Black-crowned Night Heron and a rather distant Whiskered Tern .
7/12-17/2012 Singapore:  Many species were seen around Changi Village and its island:  A White-bellied
Sea Eagle was fishing while a juvenile flew overhead.  A real treat was to see a male Scarlet-backed
Flowerpecker trying to eat an immense berry.  A Stork-billed Kingfisher was sighted as was a male
Purple-throated Sunbird . Also shown: a female pink-necked Green Pigeon eating berries and an
Olive-winged Bulbul along with a skulking Straw-headed Bulbul.
7/12-17/2012 Singapore:  A variety of species were seen around Changi Village and its island:  An Ashy
Tailorbird showed up (The juvenile was following the tailorbird around but may have been a different
species.) A Brahminy Kite was fishing and eating mid-air.  Also shown: A Collared Kingfisher , a Glossy
Starling flock , a Grey Heron , a House Crow , and Javan Mynas getting a dirnk.

Collared Kingfisher was hiding in the trees.  It was very cool to see a Brahminy Kite fishing and then
eating mid-air.  Also shown: An Oriental Pied Hornbill , a juvenile Oriental Magpie Robin and an adult male,
an Asian Glossy Starling flock , a Grey Heron , a House Crow , and Javan Mynas getting a drink.
