4/19/20  Amelia Island, FL:  On a morning bike ride, we came upon another birder searching the trees.  She
said she had just heard a Yellow-billed Cuckoo.  We all found the bird and watched as it hunted in the
trees above us.  So cool.  After the bike ride, we decided to go back and try for a photo.  We actually found
two birds calling to each other!   They didn't seem to mind us at all, but finally flew to some trees on
private property.  Also, a Great Crested Flycatcher and a male Pileated Woodpecker stopped by for us.
What a great morning.  (We look forward to getting close-up and personal with the sunrises again soon!)
4/21/20  Amelia Island, FL:  Birding on a glorious day with plenty of sunshine, we saw over 50 species but
the real highlight was all the butterflies (Red Admirals, Queens, Soldiers, Monarchs, Buckeyes, etc...)
showing up on the island!  After a Tricolored Heron gave us a gorgeous reflection pic, we also caught
Painted Bunting , Northern Cardinal , Indigo Bunting , House Finch , Green Heron , Great Blue Heron ,
Double-crested Cormorant , Red-winged Blackbird , and Savannah Sparrow.  Also: some grassy pics of
Blue Gosbeak (which we still thought were interesting) along with a secretive White-eyed Vireo .
