| 6/19 thru 21/2015 California, USA: A camping trip took us to Mono Lake and Yosemite Area. Then it was down to the San Francisco area for a Oceanic Society whale-watching and pelagic trip out to Farallon Islands. The staff was marvelous! |
| 6/19 Mono Lake and Yosemite, CA: We found a number of nests! Red-breasted Sapsucker , Western Wood-Pewee , Violet-green Swallow , Steller's Jay , Red-tailed Hawk (Climbed a treacherous overlook and stayed for 2 hours hoping for parent's return but we finally had to leave) , Pygmy Nuthatch , Fox Sparrow , Costa's Hummingbird , Cliff Swallow , Cassin's Finch , California Quail , California Gull , Brewer's Blackbird , American Robin , and a bear that was very interested in our camp site! |
| 6/21/2015 Farallon Islands, California, USA: We were surprised to find a juvenile Red-throated Loon at the marina. Then, out by the island: Pigeon Guillemot , Pelagic Cormorant , Heermann's Gull , Sooty Shearwater , Tufted Puffin , Rhinoceros Auklet , Western Gull , and quite a Blue Whale/ Humpback Whale and sea lion show (though we missed most of it being focused on the birds!) |
