| 8/4/2014 South Amelia Island and Huguenot Memorial Park, FL: A quick beach check awarded us with a Wilson's Plover (with 2 Juv), Sanderling , Sandwich Tern Feeding young , Royal Tern juv. begging, a ragged Mourning Dove with its own juvenile, and a Greater Black-backed Gull . The real star, however, was a young Cooper's Hawk sitting on a grill with its kill. We made the most of the hawk's cooperation until a car drove up and scared it off. | 8/8/2014 Rt466, FL: It was reported that there was a 300 Swallow-tailed Kite fest south of us. At about 9:45am, kites started showing up, grabbing flying bugs above the melon fields. We counted 50+ but they vanished by noon and we understand that few were sighted the next day. What amazing and effortless aerialists! Mississippi Kites were seen as well.
