12/3/12 Century Park, Shanghai, China: The recent cold front was still pushing through the small birds. A mixed flock showed up including Goldcrest (still finding bugs), Black-throated TIt , Eastern Great Tit , and Pallas's Leaf Warbler. Also, the usual Chinese Bulbul and Pale Thrush hanging about.

12/15-18/12 Jiuhuashan and Shenjin Lake were explored. Shenjin had a number of geese and waders. No cranes were sighted there, though only a small area of the lake was visited. It was a joy to see so much life and it is only hoped that the wildlife can be protected with the extensive building that continues nearby. Shown: Swan Goose pair, Little Egret flock, Grey-capped Pygmy Woodpecker , Great Crested Grebe , Black-headed Gull , Eastern Great Tit , Tundra Swan family, Great Cormorant , Darian Redstart (f), White-throated Kingfisher , and a Long-tailed Shrike.

12/15-18/12 Jiuhuashan and Shenjin Lake were explored. At the lake, the Bean Goose numbers were high and it was great fun watching families take off and land en masse.

12/15-18/12 Jiuhuashan and Shenjin Lake were explored while the rain luckily held off. Some of these more distant bird flocks were documented for document's sake: Spot-billed Duck , Ruddy Shelduck , Pied Avocet , Smew , Eurasian Spoonbill individuals that were preening each other (Saw only one possible Black-faced - quite distant), Common Shelduck , Heron/Egret mix, and mostly Common Greenshank.

12/15-18/12 Jiuhuashan and Shenjin Lake were explored. While the lighting wasn't great, it sure was fun watching a Pied Kingfisher duo feeding along the shore!
12/15-18/12 Foggy Jiuhuashan, China: Collared Finchbill , Grey-cheeked Fulvetta , Red-billed Blue Magpie.
