2/11/2012 Dishui Lake Area, China: Went birding with Zhang Lin of Shanghai Birding Tour. He was wonderful and very knowledgeable, and we saw tons of birds and about 50 species. Weather was cold and sky was overcast but we had a blast. We were able to see and capture photos of a number of White Wagtail subspecies along with many Little Egret , Great White Egret , Mongolian Gull individuals, and a Buff-bellied Pipit . Poor images were captured of a couple of Yellow Wagtails, a Chinese Penduline Tit, a Richard's Pipit, and a Kentish Plover, but the images are posted for interest's sake - these are all lifers for us. Black-faced Spoonbill below. Thanks, Lin!

1/25/2012 Chongming Island, Dongtan Wetlands, China: A Vinous-throated Parrotbill study. This little fellow didn't want to cross the road and gave us great looks while considering his options. Also, a Long-tailed Shrike, a Spot-billed Duck flock, and a Peregrine Falcon showed up for the camera.

1/18/2012 Botanical Gardens, Shanghai, China: The always beautiful Azure-winged Magpie is shown hanging out at the palm trees in the park. Also: An Eastern Great Tit , a Chinese Bulbul (or Light-vented Bulbul ) , a Red-flanked Bluetail , a Spotted Dove , a Daurian Redstart , a Eurasian Blackbird (and a leucistic individual that was sighted) and the very common Eurasian Tree Sparrow.
