| Shanghai is a huge and very modern city. The parks are very safe and, though cultivated, they do harbor birds! Outside the city are numerous green spots to take day trips. During our first month here, we were obviously quite busy getting settled but we did manage to get outside with the camera - we are loving it! |
| 1/25/2012 - 2/3/2012 Shanghai parks (including Chongming Island 45min north): Light-vented Bulbul (abundant) , Brambling , Eurasian Blackbird , Black-crowned Night-Heron (an old friend!), Reed Parrotbill (the funniest little guys), Black-winged Stilt , Red-flanked Bluetail , White-rumped Munia , and a Yellow-bellied Tit flock that stopped by to visit and snatch a drink. |
| 1/25/2012 - 2/3/2012 Shanghai parks (including Chongming Island 45min north): Two Warblers (different individuals but maybe same species - we are still working on names), Vinous-throated Parrotbill (fun to watch), Daurian Redstart (f), Dusky Thrush , Grey-backed Thrush , Long-tailed Shrike , a Spotted Dove and a Olive-backed Pipit study. |
| 1/31/2012 Chongming Island: Spot-billed Duck study, a Reed Parrotbill study , a Siberian (or Common) Stonechat , Rustic Bunting , Pallas's Reed Bunting , A Long-tailed Shrike , a Black-faced Bunting pair, a lone Black-winged Stilt , Common Moorhen , and an Eastern Marsh Harrier pair. Also show from a rainy day visit on 1/28/12 to Dishui Lake: Great Crested Grebe and Little Grebe . |
