9/22/10 A glorious week of weather in DE! Had to run out and take a few pics near home. Was rewarded for
the effort by a Northern Parula getting close and personal. The Northern Waterthrush wasn't as friendly
and never came out to pose. A Magnolia Warbler made a brief showing as well as a House Wren , a Hairy
Woodpecker , and a Northern Cardinal .
9/26/10 Birding around Bombay Hook NWR : Didn't see the Lark Bunting but lots of other goodies were
waiting for us. Savannah Sparrow (s) were abundant , two Peregrine Falcon (s) (ad+imm) were swooping
the pools where American Avocet (s) and Northern Shoveler (s) were feeding. A Bobolink checked on us.
Very cool was the Greater White-fronted x Canada Goose HYBRID caught in flight. (see Sibley)
9/25/10 Birding around Hockessin, DE: Northern Parula , Prairie Warbler , Northern Cardinal, Northern
Mockingbird, a Kildeer , an American Redstart , a Cape May Warbler , an imm. Chipping Sparrow , a mixed
American Goldfinch and Eastern Bluebird flock - with new feathers coming in on the young bluebirds.
10/2/10 made the rounds in Northern DE and found: a beautiful Scarlet Tanager who was quite proud of her
catch along with a Swainson's Thrush ,  a Black-throated Green Warbler, and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet at
Ashland, a Nashville Warbler , a White-crowned Sparrow , a Northern Mockingbird , a Red-bellied
Woodpecker hiding berries in the end of a branch, and a Gray Catbird in Hockessin.
