Bombay Hook, DE on 8/14/10 continued (Click on NEXT PAGE below for Hudsonian Godwit and more: A
Short-billed Dowitcher study, a Semipalmated Plover interaction, and a Western Sandpiper taking a bath!
Also a Juv. Laughing Gull and a juv. and an adult nonbreeding plumaged Forster's Tern shown together.
Also stopped at Port Mahon, DE on 8/14/10 : A beautiful juvenile Short-billed Dowitcher came up to say
hello (though, he wasn't quite sure of us.) And, one Semipalmated Sandpiper takes his own direction.
8/29/10 A stop at WCCSP and in Hockessin, DE yielded a family of Indigo Buntings (at least two males and a
female). A Yellow Warbler showed up along with a juv. Carolina Wren and a White-breasted Nuthatch.
Everyone got real quiet as an imm. accipiter (didn't get to see the whole bird well, but it was larger.
Female Sharp-shinned Hawk or Male Coopers?) glided in for a look. A fledgling Northern Cardinal (no tail
and few feathers who was quite a ventriloquist) was calling (taken at 1/20sec!); a juv, Gray Catbird and a
Common Yellowthroat losing his breed plumage also came out to pose. A gorgeous Chestnut-sided
Warbler showed up and American Goldfinch young were still being fed.
Taylor Gut, Bombay Hook, and Port Mahon, DE on 8/28/10 : Weather was fantastic and the Great Egret (s)
and Snowy Egret (s) were out fishing. Northern Shoveler (s) were seen at BH along with a Belted
Kingfisher, a few Stilt Sandpiper (s) and a Spotted Sandpiper. Sanderling (s) ruled the beach with a juv.
Ruddy Turnstone. A flock of Bobolink (s) were in the fields along the road.
