Week starting 7/1/10 We took off for our 33rd Anniversary to AZ to hike about the canyons and to see what
new birds we could find. AZ was beautiful!!!  (Click NEXT PAGE below for more hummers etc...!) Shown
here: Broad-billed Hummingbird (love these), Acorn Woodpecker (found a place to mash up bugs for
young), Elegant Trogan (Very cool bird!), Black-headed Grosbeak , Hooded Oriole (we found the nest) , a
juvenile Painted Redstart , Mexican Jay , Gambel's Quail , a Red-faced Warbler family, a beautiful
Violet-crowned Hummingbird , and a Zone-tailed Hawk in flight! Wow - what a trip - a few more pics coming
soon....

here: a Yellow-billed Cuckoo , a Summer Tanager , a juv. Verdin , a Cactus Wren , a Rufous-winged
Sparrow, and a very bad picture of a Varied Bunting but we had never seen one before and wanted to
share it! Beautiful but secretive. Also: a juv. Lucy's warbler (brown rump), a Curved-billed Thrasher, a
male and juv. Broad-billed Hummingbird , Black-throated Gray Warbler , a Botteri's Sparrow , and a
Black-throated Sparrow (even tho we were having trouble with our camera - it was rather hot!)
