11/2+6/09 Rt 7, DE Black Vultures with a deer carcass (How Halloweenish!) and Conowingo Dam - Bald
Eagles doing their thing!
11/15/09 Bellevue SP, DE After losing all our camera card data from 11/14 (bummer!)  we went back and
were rewarded for our persistence with a WOW sighting of a Red-tailed Hawk flying in 20 ft from us with a
squirrel in its clutches. American Robins and Cedar Waxwings gave us some interesting pictures using
berries and fall foliage while Northern Cardinals , a Dark-eyed Junco , and a Song Sparrow showed up.
We had just taken a picture of a huge wasp nest when a
Red-bellied Woodpecker landed and started punching a hole
in it. He vanished inside and we half expected him to exit with
a swarm of wasps on his trail, but whether it was too cold or
he didn't find the main chamber, he emerged unscathed and
"emptybilled". We were ready to run!
