9/24/2017 :  Amelia Island, FL:  Have been busy with family and helping some unfortunate folks clean up
after Irma.  However, we did notice a gathering of waders at a newly formed pond nearby one evening
and had to stop!  Below:  Wood Stork , Roseate Spoonbill , Painted Bunting (juv.), Great Egret , Osprey ,
Mourning Dove , Common Yellowthroat , Canada Goose , and two Great Blue Herons flying over the
marsh.  (The next day there were 20 Woodstorks; the day after - nothing!  Migration is so fascinating. )
10/3/2017 :  Amelia Island area, FL:  Also seen on the wild and windy beaches:  American Oystercatcher
(one almost got caught by a PEFA!), Black-bellied Plover , Black Skimmer , Caspian Tern (with Royal and
Sandwich), Great Blue Heron (reacting to a swooping PEFA), Lesser Black-backed Gull , Semipalmated
Plover (with Wilson's Plover), and Western Sandpiper .
