| 4/2/2016 to 4/18/2016 We traveled to Texas along the coast from Sabine Woods via Matagorda and Kingsville down to South Padre Island and Brownsville. Then, our trip took us up along the Rio Grande where we tried to pick up some Mexican species. We had a blast in great weather! |
| 4/15/2016 Bentsen SP and Bentsen area, TX : We couldn't get enough of those Hooded Oriole males on flowers where we stayed! Also, Mississippi Kite , Ruby-throated Hummingbird , Swainson's Hawk (juv), Great Kiskadee at nest , and a Black-chinned Hummingbird just showing his colors. |
| 4/15/2016 Bentsen SP and Bentsen area, TX : Long-billed Thrasher , Curve-billed Thrasher , various Broad-winged Hawk individuals in flight, and Brown-headed Cowbird (m). |
| 4/15/2016 Bentsen SP and Bentsen area, TX : A Greater Roadrunner showed up near the camera. It found a frog (poor guy!) in the nearby bushes, beat it to a pulp, and swallowed it whole! |
| 4/16/2016 Santa Ana NWR and Rio Grand City, TX : A Scaled Quail fiesta at a nearby ranch (Thanks, Tom!) was thoroughly enjoyed! Also, Black-necked Stilt , Golden-fronted Woodpecker , Great Horned Owl young, Harris' Hawk (flt) ,Northern Bobwhite , Pyrrhuloxia , White-faced Ibis , and White-tipped Dove . |
