7/30/11  More of Bombay Hook NWR, DE.  It was so much fun to watch a Black-necked Stilt family hunt and
preen.  The adults were often frantic when their two offspring wandered - and wandered they did!  Then,
we studied the Ruby-throated Hummingbird band zipping around the nature center - and zip they did!
7/30/11  A gorgeous morning found us at one of our favorite places: Bombay Hook NWR, DE.  A Marsh
Wren family decided to check us out and we were surrounded by 5 curious wrens all at the same time.  A
Great Egret , an Eastern Kingbird , and a Black-necked stilt family put on a show. Also an American Avocet
flock was feeding, an American Goldfinch was snacking, a Snowy Egret flock was prancing about, and we
had a Glossy ibis fly-by.  Doesn't get better than this!
7/31/11 + 8/5/11  WWCSP and northern DE. Shown:  a Green Heron watching the world go by, a
Ruby-throated Hummingbird drinking dew from a leaf, a Song Sparrow peeking out, a Gray Catbird family,
a Red-winged Blackbird (a beautiful orange in the sunlight) was checking out old wood for anything to
nibble, and a juv. Red-eyed Vireo was begging.  An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is always a treat to see.
8/6/11 Bombay Hook NWR and area, DE:  Ruby-throated Hummingbird study, Osprey , Greater Yellowlegs
in flight, Short-billed Dowitcher , Lesser Yellowlegs , Caspian Tern with fish, and a Western Sandpiper
Study.  A Semipalmated Sandpiper is shown bathing with a Western in flight - interesting to compare the
bills.  Small pics: Semipalamated Sandpiper and Forster's Tern at end.
