9/18/19 to 10/5/19 Heading out west, we flew first to San Diego area (Salton Sea, Catalina Island, Botanical
Gardens and other parks), and then to Seattle, WA area to Owl.  We traveled over to Victoria, then down
to Olympic NP and Mount Rainier NP.  After that, we birded around Portland and all over Washington State
with a terrific owl guide.  We had an awesome trip with great weather and picked up some birds we had
never seen before!

9/27+28/19  Having had our pelagic trip canceled out of Westport, WA, we had fun birding the area, then
headed for Mt. Rainier, WA: Red-tailed Hawk , Canada Jay (Gray Jay), and Steller's Jay.  Along the coast we
found Black Turnstone , Common Loon , Long-billed Dowitcher , Kildeer , Horned Grebe , Great Blue
Heron (very stubby legs), Glaucous-winged Gull , Common Murre , and Black-capped Chickadee .
9/26/19  Olympic National Park, WA:  While out owling in the darkening dusk, we got to see a Roosevelt
Elk.  
9/27+28/19  Having had our pelagic trip canceled out of Westport, WA, we had fun birding the area, seeing
Pelagic Cormorant , Red-throated Loon , Whimbrel , Western Grebe ; and, we believe, a Thayer's Gull .
9/27+28/19  Also: Song Sparrow (Red), Northern Shoveler , Fox Sparrow , American Pipit , and a Crackling
Goose flock with some Canada Goose individuals to show size.
