8/28/18 to 9/9/18: We were fortunate enough to head to Ecuador for two weeks! We flew into Quito, headed up to Tandayapa, then drove east to Milpe, west to Guango Lodge, and back to Quito. It was a fantastic trip and we are still sorting the wonderful hummingbirds etc....it will take a while. Click on NEXT PAGE below to go back in time....

9/7/18: Papallacta Pass, Ecuador: We were freezing but enjoyed seeing: Andean Tit-Spinetail , Black Flowerpiercer , Blue-and-white Swallow , Blue-mantled Thornbill , Chestnut-winged Cinclodes , Great Thrush , Red-crested Cotinga , Plain-colored Seedeater , Plumbeous Sierra-Finch , Tawny Antpitta (having a dust bath), Stout-billed Cinclodes at nest hole, Variable Hawk (light and dark phase), and an awesome sighting of a very close Spectacled Bear that crossed our path and paused to sniff us.

9/7/18: Guango Lodge, Ecuador: One of our favorite birds was the stunning Sword-billed Hummingbird ! Also: Tyrian Metaltail , Mountain Velvetbreast , Buff-tailed Coronet (with Chestnut-breasted Coronet background, and then 2x), and another sighting of White-capped Dipper which was great fun.
