8/28/18 to 9/9/18: We were fortunate enough to head to Ecuador for two weeks! We flew into Quito, headed up to Tandayapa, then drove east to Milpe, west to Guango Lodge, and back to Quito. It was a fantastic trip and we are still sorting the wonderful hummingbirds etc....it will take a while. Click on NEXT PAGE below to go back in time....

9/5/18: Guango Lodge, Ecuador: We droved to Guango Lodge in the afternoon after a fantastic morning in the Milpe/Mindo area (see below). We had just a few hours of sunlight left and here we got to see astonishing Sword-billed Hummingbird. More beauties included: Tourmaline Sunangel (m,f), White-bellied Woodstar (m,f), Collared Inca , Chestnut-breasted Coronet , and Buff-winged Starfrontlet .

9/5/18: Mindo area, Ecuador: With our wonderful guide, Sandra, we were able to see the amazing Long-wattled Umbrellabird - truly a bizarre looking bird. Unfortunately, it was very dark when they were active and they never came close, but we were thrilled to see the show. Thanks, Sandra! Also: Purple-bibbed Whitetip (m), Broad-billed Motmot , Velvet-purple Coronet , Black-capped Tanager , Ornate Flycatcher , Golden-naped Tanager , Rusty-margined Flycatcher , the amazing Flame-faced Tanager , Bronze-winged Parrot , Ruddy Pigeon , and Empress Brilliant at feeder. Also, Ecuadorian Thrush .
