6/14/2016 thru 7/1/2016   We traveled to Las Vegas, NV  -  on to Lone Pine, CA -  then to San Diego, CA  -
and to Santa Cruz Island, CA (for the endemic Island Scrub-Jay) -  up to San Francisco, CA - and finally out
to Denver, CO .  It was a great trip to see family and we also picked up some life birds for us .
6/15/2016  Mount Charleston, Las Vegas, NV  and Glacier, near Big Pine, CA:   One of the stars was a
gorgeous male Western Tanager that came down to see what we were doing.  A Red-breasted Sapsucker
was bringing food to its hole.  We also saw Steller's Jay , Western Bluebird , Gray Vireo , and a Pinyon Jay
hoard flocking down the mountain in NV with the young swarming the parents.  It was quite a sight to see.
Also, A Pacific-slope Flycatcher (unusual at Glacier?) , Broad-tailed Hummingbird (f), House Wren ,
Black-tailed Gnatcatcher , Pied-billed Grebe , Cooper's Hawk , and Verdin (ad, juv) .
6/16/2016  Horseshoe Meadows, Lone Pine, CA :  Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon) (m,f) , Williamson
Sapsucker (m), White-breasted Nuthatch , Mountain Chickadee , Clark's Nutcracker (juv + adult) , Hairy
Woodpecker , Cassin's Finch (m),  Mountain Bluebird (f with nest mat.), and Common Raven .
