5/2+4/2014  St Augustine and Amelia Island, FL:  A Woodstork nest is always fun!  Also, a Tricolored Heron ,
A Snowy Egret , and a Roseate Spoonbill.  Also ran into a showy male Pileated Woodpecker , a Cape May
Warbler , a Northern Parula , A Northern Cardinal , a Great Crested Flycatcher , a Chimney Swift , and a
Ruddy Turnstone flock in flight.  What we had never seen before was a Black Scoter group coming to the
beach to feed.
5/2/2014  St Augustine, FL:  A Little Blue Heron was searching for nest sticks and the Great Egret triplets
were irresistible!
5/72014  St Augustine, FL:  A very special event for us was the hatching of a Tricolored Heron egg in front
of the camera.  The large wet head of the chick was the last to come free of the egg as the baby joined its
two siblings (who were not much older!).  The  adult pranced about proudly with the empty shell, then
hurried back to the nest to shade its brood and the last egg from the hot sun.  Very fun!
