| 10/14/2013 to 11/7/14 East coast areas of Australia and Tasmania: We had a blast although we almost got stuck in deep sand and flooding water with the car. Roads can flood up to 2 meters quickly after heavy rains. Again we got to experience swarms of flies and good ol' leeches as we traipsed from tropical rain forests to drier plains, trying to see the wonderful natural areas of the Australia Outback. Our pics don't do the places justice as we were really focused on the birds. At Brisbane, we hit the wetlands, Mt. Glorious, and O'Reilly's. At Carnes, we took in Michaelmas Cay and the Great Barrier Reef, then headed to Daintree River, Mount Lewis, and the Atherton Tablelands; after which we spent a few days in Kuranda. From Melbourne and Werribee Wetlands, we drove up to Rainbow and Wyperfeld NP, then across to Griffith and Binya Forest, then down to Mt. Pilot area and onto Emerald. Finally, we explored the area around Hobart, Tasmania. The people were awesome and so sweet. It was an amazing trip for us! |
