10/13-16/12 A trip to Japan, south island, took us to Fukuoka and south to Isahaya area including Mt.
Unzen and a great shorebird area.  A HUGE THANKS to our wonderful guide, John Andrew Wright of
Johnandrewwright.com who drove us to all the great spots to bird!  Great effort - Thanks, John!  10/14/12
Shorebirds galore:  First, a striking setting for a Great Egret!  Next, a Peregrine Falcon cruising and
disrupting the flocks.  Also, Vega Gull , Far-eastern Curlew and comparison with Eurasian Curlew (also
taking a bath), Dunlin flocks in flight , Black-faced Spoonbill pair (very cool flyby!), Common Greenshank ,
Terek Sandpiper , Black-bellied Plover mixed flock (these also favored the red heather-type fields),
Greater Sand Plover flock in flight, Barred-tailed Godwit flock in flight, and finally a Black-tailed Godwit
landing, showing its tail.  What a way to spend a morning!
