12/16/20 to 12/30/20 We traveled to see family and birded as we quarantined between families.  We
stopped at Quivira NWR, KS, on the way west and caught wonderful hawk morphs, then hit CO, NV, TX, AR,
seeing the Spotted Rail, Sprague's Pipit, and Smith's Longspur and so much more.  Great Holidays to all!
12/16/2020 Quvira NWR, KS: Two Rough-legged Hawk individuals  put on a show for us, the second being a
dark phase.  It was pleasant to have them be so tame and give us such great looks.
Quvira NWR, KS:  More Hawks!  Red-tailed Hawk (juv), RTHA Harlan's light morph , RTHA  light juvenile
perched on a fence, and a clownish RTHA Harlan's intermediate morph that gave us some good looks.
("Raptors of West America" Wheeler, plates 363, 410, 411.)   Then, a Ferruginous Hawk (juv.) that swooped
over our heads.  Also: a Bald Eagle trio checking us out and THE HOME TREE,  American Tree Sparrow ,
Sandhill Crane , Song Sparrow , and a small Greater White-fronted Goose flock.
