| 12/20-23/2017 : Gainesville and Northeast Florida: We have been slow on birding in the new year (due to house projects - yes, we would rather be birding!) but enjoyed a brief trip to Gainesville on a foggy morning to see the Sandhill Crane flock. We also caught: Red-shouldered Hawk , Pileated Woodpecker , Hooded Merganser , Ring-billed Gull , Palm Warbler , Northern Cardinal , Gray Catbird , Chipping Sparrow , a rattlesnake we almost stepped on, and some fine webs. Also: a Piping Plover and Black Skimmer flocks on the beach at sunrise. |

| 1/21/2018 : Amelia Island, FL: There has been a beautiful male Harlequin Duck hanging on the island for a while and we finally had a chance to go see him. What a beauty. Also: Loggerhead Shrike , Great Blue Heron , Brown Pelican , and Black Vulture. |
