7/25 Brigantine NWR, NJ was beautiful with flowers everywhere. A Goldfinch pair, a Black Skimmer pair,
and many a Clapper Rail (one with a juvenile) making a showing. A Herring Gull was making a mess with a
muddy crab and a Black-crowned Night-Heron was having a tug of war with a worm. (The crab and the
worm lost!) A Snowy Egret made a show for us. Also shown: A Dowitcher, Great Blue Heron in flight, a juv.
Eastern Bluebird and a Juv. Osprey getting fed. (Didn't see the Spoonbill!)
7/26 A few other random pics from recent trips: a fledgling Barn Swallow, a Brown-headed Nuthatch, and a
gorgeous field of Sunflowers!
Back on May 15, 2009 (OK - we're a little slow) we were in Henderson NV and saw a Gambel's Quail , a
Redhead with the sweetest family, a very loud Black-tailed Gnatcatcher family (juv and m shown here) and
other sights of desert life. More pics from this trip are with the May trips - click NEXT PAGE.
7/26 1000 Acre Marsh and Taylor Gut Area, DE yielded a distant Ruff (f, bp - guess she used to be called a
Reeve) and a very fat looking Solitary Sandpiper.
8/8/09  A trip to Bombay Hook, DE offered a beautiful sunrise, an immature Yellow-crowned Night-Heron
and a Red-tailed Hawk along with a Mallard and chicks. Osprey , Cattle Egret , and a Black-necked Stilt
family were seen. Some Stilt Sandpipers were seen in with the Dowitchers.
8/15-23  A Hodge podge of areas where we did more hiking than picture-taking: A Double-crested
Cormorant was diving for food at Conowingo, MD; an Eastern Peewee , a Green Heron hiding, and young
male Red-wing Blackbird just showing his red patch, all in Delaware.
