|1/6/2017 Amelia Island, Fl: HAPPY NEW YEAR! We were able to take off a morning to bird 'on island'. We
caught a Red-shouldered Hawk greeting the dawn as well as a Pileated Woodpecker zipping over the
Greenway. Also: Great Egret , Eastern Phoebe , Downy Woodpecker , and Swamp Sparrow. Also a few
pics from back in December when there were shorebirds swarming the lagoon south of the island:
Lesser Yellowlegs flock, Semipalmated Plover flock, and Short-billed Dowitcher flock .
|1/11/2017 Amelia Island, Fl: Caught a little Hooded Merganser flock feeding in morning light.
|1/12/2017 Amelia Island and nearby, Fl: The weather has been marvelous and the birds friendly! A close
encounter with a White-eyed Vireo , Red-bellied Woodpecker (m), Red-shouldered Hawk , Tufted
Titmouse , Snowy Egret , Northern Cardinal (f), and Indian Peafowl (m).
