2/14 + 2/15 We wandered about NJ and DE amazed by the color on all the waterfowl. The ducks especially
are in splendid array and we often saw five males displaying for one female.  Northern Pintails,
Green-winged Teals, and Mallards were gorgeous. A House Finch, a Yellow-rumped Warbler, and a
Northern Mockingbird were curious about us. Red-tail Hawks are pairing up and geese are heading
north.  Spring is in the air!
3/7/09 Finally got out and about! There is nothing better than checking out Cape Henlopen State Park, DE
and nothing better than finding six little Brown-headed Nuthatches sitting in a tree!
3/14/09 Meandering the back roads of NJ, we came across two Brown Creepers, a Peregrine Falcon, a
Red-tailed Hawk, and some Mute Swans.  The Red-tailed Hawk kept sliding down his perch and trying to
find his balance which made for some interesting pictures.
F and M Snow
Buntings were
losing their brown
color and
changing to BP. M
longspurs had
ruddy necks.
Five Fox Sparrows
were rooting about
at Prime Hook and
we stopped to
study the
Canvasbacks at
Silver Lake, DE
3/8/09 What fun to follow the de-birding emails and catch the Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs
combing the fields of Middletown, DE with some Horned Larks.  Saw some interesting plumages!
3/21/09 A brilliant morning at Brigantine, NJ rewarded us with E. Phoebes and lots of ducks.  Some photos
from 11/25 FL and 12/30 Canada trips: Cattle Egrets, icy Scaup, Tricolored Heron and a YCNH beauty.
