| 2/17-25/2016 A wonderful camping trip took us south to the Everglades National Park, FL. From there, we wandered north via various parks. We caught a Buff-bellied Hummingbird near Homestead, nesting Osprey and a Great White Heron in the Everglades, American Bittern at Green Cay, and hunting Snail Kites at Indian River Wetlands among many other birds. | 2/24/2016 Viera Wetlands and Kissimmee Prairie Preserve SP, FL: The end of our trip took us to Viera where we saw a White Ibis chowing down a huge frog and a Roseate Spoonbill hunting along the banks. While there were many other birds, we focused on a Ring-necked Duck flock, the members of which insisted on being our good friends for over an hour. We have never seen them this close and unafraid. |
| 2/24/2016 Viera Wetlands and Kissimmee Prairie Preserve SP, FL: From the prairie, we caught a White-eyed Vireo taking a bath, numerous Red-shouldered Hawk individuals, a Loggerhead Shrike , an Eastern Meadowlark , a Crested Caracara , a Wood Stork family, and a 1st year Red-winged Blackbird. |
| 3/8/2016 St. Augustine's Alligator Farm Rookery, FL: Roseate Spoonbill and Wood Stork pairs were creating nests but it looked like one huge bridal shower with all the Great Egrets in breeding plumage! |
