We will post some of our favorite, more recent pictures here first! |
1/3/09 We started a brilliant day with a trip to Barnegat Lighthouse SP, NJ which is always fun! Harlequin and Long-tailed Ducks greeted us as we made like a jetty boulder and stayed very very still on the rocks. Red-breasted Mergansers, were fishing while the Common and Red-throated Loons were busy crabbing. A Black Scoter and a Red-necked Grebe showed up as well along with the usual suspects. |
1/1/09 A quick trip to Conowingo, MD taught us that: Yes, Bald Eagles CAN fly up-side-down! |
1/17/09 What a glorious morning it was at Conowingo Dam, MD! You know, sometimes you go out expecting something - sometimes you get it; more often than not, you get the unexpected! In this case, it was a slow morning for Eagles, but the Ring-billed Gulls in the sunrise mists were fabulous to behold. |
A few more pics from Fl, 11/08 as we SLOWLY go through some older files. These were taken with our smaller camera and we were glad to have that second lens there for this preening Roseate Spoonbill and for more pics of our secretive little Sora! (For more on Florida trip, keep clicking on NEXT PAGE below.) |
1/24/09 Ashland Nature Center, DE: A dark day for photography. We took this very close Carolina Wren but also saw Pine Siskins, Purple Finches, and lots of woodpeckers. There were tons of birds; light was just poor. (We hope to go back and get better pictures on a brighter day!) 1/25/09 Supawna Meadows, NJ: At sunrise we witnessed 'Snow Goose lift-off' - always astonishing! Tundra and Mute Swans waddling about the ice, (see a comparison shot below) a Br. Thrasher was eating chips of ice, a Hermit Thrush was warily searching for any hardy bugs, and many White-throated Sparrows were trying to find edibles in the sunshine next to our car. Very obliging! |
