| 10/2-6/2014 A trip to Denver, CO to visit family got us into the mountains for some beautiful hikes. Also we visited Cherry Creek State Park in Denver and caught some of the birds there. Mountains: Mountain Chickadee , Steller's Jay , White-crowned Sparrow , Western Scrub Jay , Chipping Sparrow , Hairy Woodpecker , Red-tailed Hawk , and a distant Sandhill Crane flock on migration. |
| 10/2-6/2014 Denver, CO: We visited Cherry Creek State Park in Denver and caught some of the birds there: California Gull , Red-wing Blackbird (m+f), Black-bill Magpie , Western Meadowlark , Canada Goose , Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon), Northern Flicker (red-shafted), Mourning Dove , House Finch (m), Gadwall in flight, Yellow-headed Blackbird , and a Blue-winged Teal flock in flight (With a trailing American Wigeon) . |
| 10/8/2014 Amelia Island, FL: A full Lunar Eclipse offering a "blood moon" got us up early! |
| 10/11/2014 Fort George, Big Talbot, and Amelia Island, FL: a beautiful morning found us outside, of course, where we were greeted by a Red-shouldered Hawk, Prairie Warbler , Pileated Woodpecker , 2 different Osprey individuals, and a close encounter with a small White Ibis flock as well as a distant encounter with a Black-bellied Plover flock in flight. |
